I tried to avoid argument by being nice and saying that the kid could make his own choices, but I still got people either agreeing or disagreeing and starting an argument. 

This kid is dumb. When you are 16 you do not know enough to make a decision this permanent [tattoo]. And fuck the whole “live fast, die young” mentality. If you are 16, then you are too young. There is a REASON why it is illegal in NH to get a tattoo under the age of 18. 

As Jesus put it:

A sixteen year old can pick a college that they want to go to because they can always change their decision, but a tattoo is going to stick around for the rest of their life.

Sure you could potentially get it removed, but that is extremely costly and very painful.
